CONCEPT

Opened in September 2011, NEYA Lisboa Hotel has contributed to urban rehabilitation while minimizing the environmental impact of its construction.

NEYA Lisboa Hotel is an urban hotel with a sustainable tourism concept, earning it numerous certifications, including ISO Standards 9001, 14001, and 45001, the Green Key certification, the We Care and We Share seals from AHP, the Green Project Award, and the Carbon Zero Certification. The hotel’s operations are guided by a strong social responsibility policy and an efficient management model, ensuring reduced environmental impact and ecological footprint.

The Earth Charter as Inspiration

The NEYA Lisboa Hotel drew its primary inspiration from the Earth Charter to develop its mission. The NEYA Hotels Group firmly believes that businesses should play an active role not only in respecting the environment but also in fostering the development of their communities. For this reason, it collaborates with social solidarity institutions and actively supports their causes.

Social Partners:

Casa Ronald McDonald; Fundação do Gil; Banco do Bebé; Refúgio Aboim Ascensão; Fundação Gonçalo da Silveira; CHLC.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The NEYA Group consistently works to establish partnerships with social solidarity institutions. This approach reflects the concept of giving, where support is not limited to donations or in-kind contributions but extends to time, effort, and dedication, channeling available resources within our business structure to help.

The current paradigm of instability demands behavioral change, creativity, and the adoption of new strategies.

An example of this is the partnership with the Lisbon Central Hospital Centre units, particularly Hospital Dª. Estefânia, near the hotel, for the creation of the “Quarto Solidário” project.

QUARTO SOLIDÁRIO

With a focus on children, NEYA Lisboa Hotel, in partnership with the Lisbon Central Hospital Centre, launched the “Quarto Solidário” initiative.

This initiative aims to provide free accommodation and breakfast to families of underprivileged children who must travel from their hometowns for medical consultations, hospital treatments, or admissions.

More than just providing accommodation, NEYA Lisboa Hotel welcomes these families with open hearts, dedicating time and offering all the necessary support during such delicate times. Beyond financial contributions, the hotel shares its facilities, the commitment of its staff, and the care of its entire organization, transforming the hotel into an extension of their homes.

The NEYA Lisboa Hotel firmly believes that by supporting families, it is also helping the children, providing them with the protection and security of having their families close during vulnerable moments.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Tourism is one of the industries with the greatest environmental impact, which is why NEYA implements daily practices to reduce its ecological footprint. As a sustainable hotel, it is committed to maintaining high-quality services through a tripartite sustainability concept – environmental, economic, and social.

In addition to efficient waste management, all rooms are equipped with bins to allow proper waste separation by guests. Bathwater is heated through solar panels, reducing losses in the electrical system. Water flow reducers and sensor faucets are installed in common areas to prevent waste.

An electricity supply contract was signed with Axpo Iberia, certified by AENOR as Class A Green Energy, sourced from 100% renewable sources. This initiative has significantly reduced carbon emissions from energy consumption.

In collaboration with Ponto Verde, carbon emissions were calculated, leading to a tree-planting action of 750 trees to offset the CO2 released into the atmosphere. This earned NEYA Lisboa Hotel the Carbon Zero Certification, making it the first hotel in Portugal to achieve this distinction.

NEYA supports a “PLASTIC FREE” program, incorporating refillable amenities and eliminating plastic bottles, bags, and straws. Plastic straws have been replaced by edible straws from Sorbos, integrating the hotel into the Straw-Free Movement.

Bicycles are available for guests to explore the city without using cars or public transport. The hotel also provides facilities for guests and employees to commute by bike, including exclusive parking spaces. These efforts towards sustainable mobility have earned the hotel the “Portugal Bike Friendly” Certification and the “National Award for Bicycle Mobility” from the Portuguese Federation of Bicycle Tourism and Users in 2018.

Furthermore, whenever possible, NEYA prioritizes purchasing from local producers to meet its operational needs.

NEYA Lisboa Hotel takes pride in its contribution to reducing the tourism sector’s ecological footprint and believes that, with collective effort, tourism activities can become more sustainable.

ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY

NEYA aims to foster economic growth while striving for a balanced trade surplus. By valuing domestic supply, the hotel focuses on increasing the purchase of local products, thereby stimulating the internal market.

The hotel collaborates with a supplier that exclusively deals in renewable energy, ensuring it is 100% powered by hydropower, solar, and wind energy.
